Talent Show

Kia Ora

Today was fabulous. We worked really hard at reading and maths, played dodgeball (Funday Friday) and this afternoon we had our semi final of Room 3's Got Talent. There is video but at the moment it is beyond me to load it. I need Cam to help on Monday so stay posted. While the judges were deliberating the students went nuts on the fitness station and some of those pictures are attached.

Have a wonderful weekend and we will be back on Monday.

End of Week 3

This week we have started our programme proper, with reading and maths groups. Students have found that challenging but have approached it with a pretty good attidute. I am amazed that they are so mature and have such a great understanding of what is expected at Intermediate. This is a real credit to the primary schools they have come from.

This term we are looking at citizenship and to start with we have been thinking about perspective, the way we look at things. Students took photographs where they used distance to change the view of the picture (see previous posts). Next week we will be looking in more detail at how our experiences affect our perspective.

I am thrilled to be working with such a wonderful collection of intelligent, motivated students and I think we will have a wonderful year.

friday 19 of feb

Today we were celebrating our 3 week of school by doing literacy and numeracy it was really hard i found it confusing and really difficult but i liked it.It was really fun though Mrs warren is really fun and a real cool teacher i love Mrs warren oh i forgot room 3 ROCKS

Twe did lots of things like literacy and numeracy. during the midddle block we changed our desk group and i am sitting by Haley. in the afternoon we did this thing called judge Warren , were it was the year 8 v year 7 and the year 8s won , it was an argue between having the chocolate fountain or not and in the end we did not get it out.

This week we have been learning about perspective and seeing things from different points of view. We went out side to take some photos that make it look like one person is standing on the other person but one person is far away and the other is close up.

Chocolate the Chinchilla

Kia Ora

Well, after a lot of debate our chinchilla is now officially named Chocolate. The idea is that when we get a female we can call her vanilla and then have lots of ice cream babies (!). Or maybe one step at a time. Chocolate likes bouncing around our classroom but will only go to students who are sitting calmly and quietly. This is a bit difficult for some people in room 3 as they are so excited to meet Chocolate. We presented him officially to the school in assembly today - only by photo presentation as he was too busy eating a peanut to attend. Everyone else is driving their teachers crazy asking to have one for their room so I am not very popular in the staff room (oops).

Attached are some more photos of Chocolate in action.

New Classmate

Hello, today we had an exciting addition to our class. This is our baby chinchilla. He is 3 months old and gorgeous. His temporary name (we are still debating his official title) is Vanilla Geoffery. He will live in our back room and visit the homes of students at weekends and holidays. Our plan is to learn about taking care of animals, the benefits of having pets in our lives and being responsible for the care of another living being. Vanilla is already proving to be a good jumper and has hopped around our class several times. He only seems to like students who are calm and quiet and will sit on your shoulder to chat to you. We will post more photos and information once he has settled in and, most importantly, we have decided on his name!

Norms by Caitlin

In our school we have some norms.
They are honesty, respect, caring, protection and fairness.
We have these norms so we can become a better school and have positive behaviour.
Here are some of the words and sentences that describe all the norms.
Honesty:Tell someone if something happens.
Don't lie.
If you have done something wrong, be honest and come forward.
Respect:Listen, manner, don't talk.
Caring:Caring is being kind to each other.
Caring is treating others the way you feel.
Caring is being kind to the environment.
Protection:Standing up for others.
Taking care of other peoples stuff.
Looking after the environment.
Fairness:Be kind, be friendly, support each other.
The most important norm to me is caring because if you care for people you make lots of new friends and when you make lots of new friends you're happy!:)

Thursday 11th Feb

Today I enjoyed Miss Warren reading about Dr Helicopter. He is a detective and he finds out stuff about murders. We have to listen to the story and work out who did it by looking at the notes on the board Miss Warren did. Spec was also fun, I am in foods and we made corn fritters. We played dodgeball in PE. I like hitting people with the balls.

Room 3 Stamp

This is the stamp we are going to publish with NZ Post. Students, their families and the school are going to buy them (and others that the students made). We think that is pretty cool.

9th Feb

I am Imogen Warren, teacher in Room 3. It is my pleasure to do the Blog today. I have also attached a photo of my wonderful class.

We have had a brilliant start to the year in Room 3. The students are happy, eager to learn, full of creative ideas and ready for anything. We have spent quite a lot of time doing tests so far and already the students are giving their best and showing a fantastic attitude to their learning (and having to do things they don't want to).

They have already organised a proposal for getting a class pet and today our Principal gave her permission. So watch this space for our new addition.

I hope to meet lots of parents and family at our Community Evening at 6pm on Thursday so we can show off our classroom and all the clever ideas the students have had already.

First Day

Today was the first day it was really cool. Our teacher is Miss Warren and she is really fun. Right now we are making stamps (one of Miss Warren's fun ideas). Once we have finished making them some of us are going to get them made into REAL stamps we can use on letters. Also today we started a game year 7 vs year 8 it's like badminton but with a ballon and a spelling twist. It's almost home time we are about to play silent ball.Bye
