Piwakawaka Mini Film Festival by Matt

This term Piwakawaka syndicate is doing a Mini Film Festival for team building. We have a couple of producers such as Matthew Hurnen, Lewis Brown and Stuart Wheeler. These brave students are taking all the pressure and stress of making a film festival work. Matthew Hurnen came up with the idea on Easter Sunday when he was coming back home from Foxton with his family, he was remembering back when he was talking to his friend Sam about the Mini Film Festival that his primary school had. Matt had came up with many ideas and he went to find sponsors before he got the "go ahead" he got many sponsors such as Reading Cinemas, Weta Workshop, Radio NZ, New Zealand Film Industry etc. The Radio NZ wasn't able to sponsor us much but they gave us post cards. The Weta Workshop sponsored the most amazing prize, it was a big sculpture of the Native Islanders of Scull Island on King Kong. I am waiting to hear back from what Reading Cinemas and I will still search for more sponsors. There are 3 categories-Documentary, Mock-umentary and comedy. We came up with many categories the first were comedy, drama and romantic then Miss Warren went and talked to the Principal about it and she said it should be about school so that's where the Documentary and Mock-umentary came along. Matt and Lewis came up with many ideas for the third category there were musical, action etc but comedy was the best idea. The P.M.F.F. night will be on week 9 on Wednesday or Thursday and we will be selling tickets on Monday to Thursday week 8. The night will be very fun and there are 2 hosts Matthew Hurnen and Lewis Brown.
there are no teachers involved so the students can run wild LOL jokes. The whole thing is being put together by students to give it a creative view.

Easter Writing Treats - Niah

I’m sitting in the classroom about to close my eyes. The bell rang and gave me a huge fright. We all ran outside at once like there was no air inside the classroom. As I was walking across the concrete, my feet were burning like I was walking on fire. It was a beautiful day to play but I had to do my homework first, I sighed. So I just went and got it over and done with. After I finished, I told my mum and she said, “How easy was that”, I didn’t answer.

Easter Writing Treats - Maddy and Caleb

The bravest thing I have ever done is to bungee jump off a bridge. It was just that feeling when I was standing on the edge about to jump. My heart was racing like a race car on a track. Before the actually jump I was really scared then, I was on the edge and jumped.

The bravest thing I have ever done is... Jumping out of a plane. I took a deep breath and leaped out of the plane and soared through the air like a bird that has been strapped onto a rocket. I landed and yelled I am not doing that again!!!

Easter Writing Treats - Lewis

Lewis Brown Writing.

Story 1: A scary dark hall with creaky sounds echoing around it, I keep walking. A strange figure came out of the shadows. Then I saw darkness.

Story 2: It kept coming and coming and coming until it couldn’t come any further. I got scared. After that I didn’t go swimming, because I had no legs.

Story 3: The spirits took me into the sky. I saw golden lights fly around me. I was one of them. I felt the fur coming out of me. I was a wolf.

Easter Writing Treats - Sarah and Daniel

WALT: write in an interesting way

One day we were having our honeymoon on fungus island when a big hamburger came out of nowhere and my husband was a big chicken!!! And I was screaming out “hallayouya!” and I ate the huge burger and we lived happily ever after

The end

The bravest thing I’ve ever done was when...

I attacked a cow. It had horns the size of swords and feet the size of trash cans. At first I thought I was mad attacking this titanic beast. Then I lunged at it, my heart was racing. Then I pinned the great beast. That’s the bravest thing I’ve ever done.

Easter Writing Treats - Haley

Sunrise

There was no answer. He knocked on the door three times but nobody came. Where could they be? "Is anybody there?" he shouted and waited for a reply. It seemed strange, their house was always busy. Maybe they’ve gone to the shops he thought, that’s what it’ll be. He ran round to the back of the house and looked through the window, five bodies were lying on the floor. He heard a sudden noise behind him, as he turned he knew he’d saw his last sunrise.

Easter Writing Treats - Jasmyn

“AAAHHH” I SCREAMED. I was racing along the spiny race track, why was this? Well...

This huge ambitious creature was chasing after me!

I come to this dead end “this is it” I think to myself it live or die my choice!

Then it comes to me I zip back down the track “oh no” I lose my sight, the fog has come and so has he!

“What to do” I try and hide myself behind a rock hard sculpture I realise it’s not a sculpture it’s him

Easter Writing Treats - Caitlin

WALT: infer

I was walking home one day when I slipped over and got soaked. I looked around and it came whistling and screeching towards me. It looked like a giant from where I was. I sprinted to the side onto the grass water dripping from my hair. I finally got home collapsing on the sofa.

On Wednesday 31st March we had a group of people from the Ugly Shakespeare Company perform at the school. They did 'The Scottish Play'. It was weird and funny.
